Great post Jason. I know what you mean. Sometimes just letting an idea perculate ( I am of course using an old style coffee pot for my cooking utensil) slowly in my mind gives me a much better result than if I just put something out in an instant.

Here's the inside scoop on this inkling sketch. While having an ice cream cone, I was inspired by the shape of my chocolate dipped cone. It reminded me of the Statue of Liberty's torch. So, I stood up in the restaurant and struck a Miss Liberty pose and said "that would be a cool sketch".

The point is that inspiration is everywhere around us even in the most commonplace items. Be alert. Be present. Just Be!

That's what I love about doing these drawings. They can mean different things to different people. I believe that our imagination is one of our most precious gifts and needs to be exercised more often. (Hmm...could be the next blog post.)

Now THIS is a fantastic post! I have lived the last year and a half without a TV and haven't missed it a bit. My BF recently brought one home and we use it now only as a tool to enjoy periodically and not all the time. Connection is what we, as humans need and crave more than ever since electronics have taken over the world. Disconnecting from the TV and connecting with others make life more meaningful.

I love to people-watch wherever I am. And then I love to invent stories of what might be happening with the people around me. Are two people out on a first date? Are they arguing because he can't remember to put the toilet seat down? What did she say to make him laugh so hard? It's fun to use your imagination!
